Tikal and Yaxha

Continuing on  with a bit more of our family adventures in Central America….We traveled into northern Guatemala to absorb the jungle temples of Tikal and Yaxha.  There are so many pathways and rooms to reflect or imagine life when these cities thrived. Tikal seems a timeless maze…and a short distance away, Yaxha provided a dreamy walk connecting with the natural  rhythms.

We walked into the jungle of Tikal in the morning on a steamy 100 degree day…and didn’t leave until the sun went down…

The next afternoon we caught a ride to YAXHA, where we practically had the entire park to ourselves.  Our hearts were so content while a family of monkeys followed our path and we delightfully sat upon the Temple of the Red Hands for another incredible sunset…

“We invent nothing, truly.  We borrow and re-create.  We uncover and discover.  All has been given, as the
mystics say. We have only to open our eyes and hearts, to become one with that which is.”
–   Henry Miller
